Good News for Boston Condo Buyers

By Jessica Quirk 30 01 2009

There’s good news for home buyers throughout much of Massachusetts. Standard and Poors released the monthly Case-Schiller home price indexes yesterday, and home prices for the Boston area have dropped 15% since the market peaked in September 2005.

Now, that doesn’t mean that the entire Boston metropolitan area has even results. In fact, areas such as Cambridge and Winchester have actually seen prices increase. Not surprisingly, the number of homes sold in those areas has decreased. Prices are continuing to slide in foreclosure affected areas such as Lynn and Lowell. The foreclosures really pressure the prices in those markets.

Prices in some Cape Cod communities continue to rise, but the house on the Cape is becoming more possible in some areas. The median price of a house in Hyannis is now $205,000 – an entry point into the housing market many buyers thought impossible just a few years ago.

What does this have to do with condo buyers in Boston?

It says that prices are now at a level where buyers are finding that housing is not unaffordable. We’re seeing prices that have not been seen since 2003, in many places. And we have low interest rates for qualified buyers. But, even with this sharp housing correction, Boston is a desirable place to live. You come here to school, to work. You have family here. And so do lots of other people – which means that there’s a consistent demand for housing. If you buy now, you have the opportunity of a low price, even on new construction, even on luxury developments. And your investment holds value.

I can show you how you can afford the home you have been waiting for – at today’s prices, at today’s interest rates. Contact me today!

Stay Warm at the Boston Wine Expo

By Erica Farthing 21 01 2009

Thirsty? Take a swig of vino- or two, or three, or four, or five this weekend at the Boston Wine Expo.

With 13 winemaking countries participating, 450 wineries, and a variety of over 1,800 wines, the 18th annual Boston Wine Expo is sure to keep you warm this bitterly cold Boston weekend.

Whether you’re a wine enthusiast or just looking for something to do this weekend, head over this Saturday and Sunday (January 24th-25th) to the Seaport World Trade Center for the largest trade and consumer wine event in the country.
Here is what to expect!

Seminars for all levels of wine-lovers led by world-renowned wine experts:
Not only are many top winemakers and winery representatives on hand to speak directly to you about their wines and answer your questions, but there will also be 25 seminars catering to seasoned wine connoisseurs and wine newbies alike. My favorite part- Gary Vaynerchuck, a self-trained wine expert known for his video blog, Wine Library TV, will be leading two seminars titled “Wine 101″. Why is Garbear my fave part? Well, he leveraged technology to reach an untapped audience when he joined the wine industry with Web 2.0. Hmm concept seems similar to something I know well…

Celebrity chef cooking demonstrations:
On both Saturday and Sunday, there will be two stages of celebrity chef cooking demonstrations including such culinary experts as Lidia Bastianich, Ming Tsai, Martin Yan, Sara Moulton, and Christina Pirello. Stage 1 demonstrations kick off both days at 1:00pm and will be hosted by TV Diner’s Billy Costa and Jenny Johnson. I’m getting hungry just writing about this.

Other Highlight of the Boston Wine Expo include:
-The introduction to Apfel Eis to Massachusetts! Apfel Eis is an apple ice wine that is made from a blend of local apples from the Still River Winery, located in the “Apple Capital” of Massachusetts. Sounds delicious.
-There is an exclusive Grand Cru Wine Lounge that will feature the finest wines in the world. This lounge will offer reserve level wines in a separate and sophisticated setting for the most serious of wine enthusiasts.

Leave Your Fingerprint at DNA Lofts

By Erica Farthing 21 01 2009

As part of our Project Development Series, I have recently toured the DNA Lofts located at 944 Dorchester Ave in Boston. These new construction Boston lofts offer 30 different floor plans and the ability to “put your own fingerprint” on your new Boston loft.

Located just minutes from Boston’s South End, South Boston, and Savin Hill, DNA Lofts offer spacious loft living in a convenient location to everything in the city of Boston. With only a five minute drive to the South Bay shopping plaza and only 3 T stops away from South Station on the Red Line, DNA Lofts are in a great location close to shopping and in close proximity to public transportation.
DNA Lofts are comprised of three distinct wings that join together around a central courtyard. Each wing offers a different loft style that potential buyers can choose from.

Wing A consists of 21 units featuring polished concrete flooring and exposed beams. Bamboo flooring and finished interiors can be found in Wing B, while Wing C is a blank canvas, left completely open to any buyers’ own design and vision.

Not only do DNA Lofts give buyers tremendous freedom in choosing exactly what they want in their new loft, but they also include city views, deeded parking, landscaped courtyard, and an expansive roof deck.

Check Out the Video I took from two of the units at DNA Lofts! First loft unit you see is unit #8 Located in Wing A that is 1,277 square feet for $450,000. The second unit you see on the video is the model unit by the sales office, it is 1,112 square feet and for $400,000.

Units in DNA Lofts range from 911 square feet all the way to 1644 square feet and are priced from the low 300’s to 600’s range. Soaring ceilings can be found within these loft units with ceiling heights ranging from 12″ to even 16″ in some lofts. From polished concrete flooring or premium green carbonized bamboo floors, European style cabinetry in three finish options, stainless steel premium appliances, halogen lighting, and contemporary tiled baths, and expansive light filled windows, DNA Lofts give new meaning to loft style living in Boston.

Cure Those Winter Boston Blues

By Erica Farthing 14 01 2009

The holidays are over and we are all searching for something else to look forward to until springtime…well, at least I know I am. Good thing there have been a lot of new restaurant/lounge openings in Boston to report! So on these dreadful winter nights, check them out…and let me know how they are!

Head over to the Back Bay to the newly opened Minibar located in the Copley  Square. This chic, super cool lounge offers a fabulous variety of mixed drinks and specialty cocktails, fantastic service, and a unique piattini style menu. Head over to 51 Huntington Ave in the Back Bay on any given night and check out their tres chic bottle service menu. Mini bottles of liquor and champagne await your arrival. Good for after work drinks, a fun night on the town, and anything else in between. Head over to Minibar in Back Bay soon…you may just run into your friends at CondoDomain there :)

Already a frequented spot in Boston’s Theatre District, Max and Dylan’s has recently opened a second location in Charlestown. This new Max and Dylan’s location at 1 Chelsea St in Charlestown is brought to you by the same restaurant group behind Scollay Square and Tavern on the Water. With a menu consisting of five different varieties of mac & cheese, how could you go wrong?! So, if you are in the search for something different, make plans on one of these cold winter days to head over to Max and Dylan’s Charlestown location.

And last, but certainly not least… In what seems to have taken forever in this ongoing North End development we now know as Battery Wharf…the highly anticipated restaurant has finally come to its senses. Sensing opened today in the Fairmont Battery Wharf located at 3 Battery Wharf in Boston’s North End. According to the report in today’s Daily Candy, Chef Guy Martin has created a menu that combines Asian, French, and American cuisine, while at the same time using New England fish, beef, and cheese. Not to sound partial, but as a huge fan of the Residences at Battery Wharf located on Boston’s historic waterfront, I can’t help but be thrilled to hear about this opening.

Learn more about Battery Wharf

Are you FULL of food information now in the Boston area? Feel too stuffed? Well here’s some more exciting news…Equinox is coming to the Financial District! Already in the Back Bay, Equinox Fitness Clubs are set to open a second location on Franklin St in the Financial District. Try all Stay tuned for updates…you will thank me :)

And of course as always, feel free to contact us for any and all questions! We love to hear from you.

Wagamama Opening in Back Bay

By Erica Farthing 13 01 2009

As a recent newbie to the Wagamama restaurant chain (and quite a huge fan) I feel the need to share my recent discovery. Many of you probably already know, but for those of you who were in the dark like me, here it is…Wagamama is opening a second Boston location in the Prudential Center in February!

Already a Wagamama fan, it was great to know that now I can visit the Back Bay location. Granted I don’t mind checking out the one in Faneuil Hall, but I love shopping at the Pru!

Stay tuned to the Boston Condo Loft for more news and information in the Back Bay and all other Boston neighborhoods.
