Boston Parking: When in doubt block a sidewalk or taxi stand

Like any busy Boston real estate professional – parking (and parking tickets) come hand-in-hand.  I got a Boston parking ticket last week which led me to throw some thought behind this and of course post it right here on The Boston Condo Loft!.  After a little research I learned that Boston collects over $63M per year on more than 1.5M issued parking tickets!  The revenue from these tickets does not go back to the Transportation Department, rather it is deposited into the City of Boston’s General Fund which provides financing for an assortment of agencies and programs, such as the city’s schools, libraries and community centers.  So this is not all bad and I am not telling anyone to park illegally – however – the next time you are dammed to find a spot – think sidewalk or taxi stand!

My ticket: So I had to run into grab some paperwork Saturday a.m. – so threw the car in the valet only (6pm – 2am) AND Boston Trolley and Tourism spot on Atlantic Ave. right in-front of The Sail Loft – no way I was getting a ticket and if so I was thinking MAX $25, right?

Wrong. Boston parking patrol nabbed me for $100 – I couldn’t believe it.  I thought fire hydrant Boston parking tickets were only around $45 forget about a Trolley/Tourism stop.
