Boston Weekend Wrap Up

Despite the cold weather this past weekend, I had a rather enjoyable time out and about in Boston!

Friday turned into a very stressful day and yours truly was on the search for a dive bar. Sure, living in the city certainly has its benefits, but the close proximity to a dive bar is not one of them. A group of us wandered around the streets of the North End, and as we aimlessly drifted between flocks of frozen tourists and Friday night daters, we eventually found ourselves on Salem Street at a little pizza joint called Pushcart Cafe.

Serving beer, wine, cordials, and some of the best pizza we’ve ever had in the North End (and we have tried a lot) Pushcart Cafe is now on the top of our list as one of our favorite places in the North End. If you stop  by on Mondays between 7 and 10pm you will find free pizza with your purchase of any drinks. Monday Night Football anyone?

Despite the frigid temperatures brought on by winter’s harsh reality on Saturday, we managed to have quite the fabulous little day exploring Faneuil Hall Marketplace. While I normally avoid that area and the swaths of tourists that come along with it, it was rather enjoyable to see all of the various performers. The large Christmas tree stood tall in the center, a concert stage set up nearby, and different tables were set up offering holiday cheer.

We watched performers sing Christmas carols from our warm spot inside at Wagamama. If you have not tried Wagamama, I highly recommend it! They have amazing selection of soups and pan-Asian cuisine. And if you’re looking to get into the holiday spirit, head over to Faneuil Hall over the next few weeks, there are several events planned sure to get you excited for the holiday season! It worked for me.

In fact, I enjoyed my Saturday at Faneuil Hall so much that I recommended heading there for lunch on Sunday! We decided we wanted to go where “everyone knew our name” so we went to Cheers and ordered up the Norm Sampler Platter while we watched the Patriots beat the Dolphins (whoohoo).

All in all, despite the dreary onset of winter, Boston is still as lively as ever!
