One of the things I miss most about “suburban” living is the abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables from my mom’s garden.
Don’t fear city dwellers, you too can enjoy garden fresh produce at your local farmer’s market! Nearly every neighborhood in the city hosts a farmer’s market weekly.
My personal favorite is at Copley Square every Tuesday and Friday from 11am to 6pm through November. In addition to the freshest garden tomatoes, lettuces, and other produce the market features homemade cheeses, artisan breads, fresh cut wildflowers, and much more. …

The July 4th Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular, what better celebration of our Nation’s independence is there than one with beautiful orchestral music and a mind-blowing pyrotechnical display, all taking place in Massachusetts, the birthplace of the revolution? If you said, “nope, there is no better Independence Day celebration in all 50 states,” then you’re correct.
For those of you who live in the area and have never partook in the festivities, make this the year, because- well- why not?
Here’s a little background on the world-renowned celebration:
“The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular started …

So we just got a new blog function here at BostonCondoLoft- it’s a really cool tool that allows us to insert property listings directly into our posts – so I’m gonna give it a spin!
The cool part about this function is that I can create a group of properties in a specific city, community, or zip code that can be organized by a myriad of factors such as price, days on market, and home size. What’s even cooler is that all of these property listings are automatically updated in real-time, …

“‘Loan modification scams are reaching epidemic proportions across the nation,’ said Thomas J. Curry, a board member of NeighborWorks America, a Washington, D.C., nonprofit spearheading the nationwide program.”
Oh, what program, you ask? The program is actually a campaign, backed by local, state, and federal agencies, targeted at homeowners facing foreclosure, which I know I have written plenty about. The campaign has one key message: Homeowners who are struggling to make payments and are facing foreclosure need to be wary of loan modification schemes. Or as the Globe puts it, …

So there’s been a lot of buzz in the market about the American Brewery Lofts. This is because 21 of the 79 original units are being auctioned on Saturday, June 26th at the Colonnade Hotel, for as much as 57% below the original asking price. The lofts are RIGHT on the border of Mission Hill and Jamaica Plain (Velocity Marketing Services, the company handling the ABL’s marketing, which, for the record, I think is inadequate, would have you believe that the address, 251 Heath St., is in the trendier, Boston-Globe-endorsed …

I’m sitting in my office and it’s thundering like mad and pouring rain on this Tuesday evening, so it’s a little hard to imagine a lavish Cape Cod resort filled with vacationers (Yankees if they’re not from MA), but this article felt like a nice fit for a day-after-Memorial-Day post.
Globe correspondent Robert Preer posted this article about a week ago, so I bet these resorts are really back into full swing after the big Memorial Day boost. Here are a few excerpts to give you an idea of what this …

Toll Brothers Buys Land as Quarterly Home Orders Rise
May 26 (Bloomberg) — Toll Brothers Inc., the largest U.S. luxury homebuilder, increased its land holdings for the first time in four years in anticipation of a recovery in the market.
The number of houses under contract but not yet sold rose in the three months ended April 30 for the first time on a year- over-year basis since 2006, the Horsham, Pennsylvania-based company said in an earnings statement today.
“People are not as scared any …

As I was browsing the hundreds of Tweets that had built up in my feed while I was at work yesterday, two adjacent Boston Globe Tweets caught my eye. The first that I read went something like “Survey- What will happen to home sales now that the home buyer tax credit expires?” with a link to a short, one question survey with four responses to choose from (more on those later.) The Tweet directly below that one, also by the Globe, read something like, “New Home Sales Jump 14.8% in …

BostInnovation.com, a new media property aimed at the creation and aggregation of original content focused on Boston’s startup ecosystem, posted a lovely article on our fine city’s new Innovation District (the waterfront area formerly known as the Seaport District) and the latest event surrounding it, “Boston’s Innovation District: An Evening at the Harpoon Brewery,” which brought together young professionals, entrepreneurs, and city officials (including the Mayor himself) for drinks and discussion last Monday.
The article focused on a central issue that faces the city’s plan to develop and draw business towards …

So I’ve been writing about foreclosure’s in Massachusetts for a while now, and to be honest, it’s making me a little depressed. Yesterday, the Boston Globe published yet another article on the foreclosure crisis, here’s a condensed version compiled from excerpts from the original article.
Home Loss Surging in Mass. (Rate of foreclosure jumps as lenders get used to process.)
The number of homeowners who lost their properties to foreclosure in April swelled to 1,372, almost 80 percent more than during the same month last year, according to data released yesterday by …
