W Boston Condos & The Living Room

By Erica Farthing 25 06 2009

The all-new W Boston condos are all the rage and talk about town these days. With this hot new luxury Boston condo development hitting town and opening in Boston’s Midtown & Theater District this coming fall, there is a lot of discussion on just how it will affect the Boston social scene on a variety of levels.

W Boston condos will feature the well-known worldwide W brand for its luxury hotel brand and sexy W style can be seen in the W Boston’s hotel, condos, and new lounges/bars. W hotels are an example of a global lifestyle brand featuring a dynamic combination of chic design & ultimate comfort from such cultural influences as fashion, music, and art.

The lobby bar, just as it is called at every other W Hotel lobby bar worldwide is set to be called, The Living Room. Uh oh. If you are familiar with Boston’s North End you will know that Boston already has a bar called The Living Room…things could get a little confusing.

Not only could the same names in the same city get confusing…but the same concept! The Living Room in Boston’s North End is well-known throughout the city for its signature cocktails, board games, and comfortable “loungey yet chic” atmosphere perfect for anything from after work drinks to Sunday brunch. And what will the W Boston’s The Living Room feature? You guessed it- signature cocktails and board games!

While we eagerly anticipate the opening of the W Boston condos and its fabulous hotel, we must also wait in anticipation on what the outcome of this Living Room mix-up could be! I guess we will have to just start using street addresses when telling our friends to meet us at “The Living Room”.

Regardless of the outcome, who isn’t excited for more lounges with board games? I know I am.

Exotic Sushi Opens in Financial District

By Erica Farthing 2 06 2009

A new restaurant has opened in Boston’s Financial District featuring sushi and tapas. Located at 184 High Street in the old International Space in the Financial District, Exotic Sushi & Tapas features “cutting-edge” sushi, an oyster bar, raw bar, Asian, Spanish, and global tapas, and cocktails devised from professional mixologists…sounds yummy.

The brainchild of Cathy Su, Exotic Sushi & Tapas located at 184 High St in Boston’s Financial District also has ambitions to open a second location this summer around the Boston Common.

Exotic Sushi & Tapas Financial District is expected to be a high volume, fast paced, sushi restaurant serving lunch and dinner to Financial District workers & residents during the week and only dinner on the weekends so far. After reading mixed reviews for Exotic Sushi & Tapas on I gather they still have some time before it’s actually worth checking out. Food is excellent & affordable…service however is not.

Let’s hope they get it together soon because I’m always in the mood for a good spicy tuna roll :)

Great Bay Closing at Hotel Commonwealth

By Erica Farthing 27 05 2009

Bad news hit Boston today for fans of Great Bay seafood restaurant…they will close their doors on May 30th.

Located inside the Hotel Commonwealth, Great Bay seafood restaurant was one of Michael Schlow’s many high-profile Boston area restaurants including Via Matta, Radius, and Alta Strada in Wellesley.

Great Bay seafood restaurant played a large part in attracting customers from the Hotel Commonwealth and downtown Boston in the revitalized Kenmore Square / Fenway area. In the area of town more commonly known for baseball games & college students, Hotel Commonwealth and Great Bay seafood restaurant offered a high-end option for visitors and residents alike.

Other restaurants still remain as part of the Hotel Commonwealth including Eastern Standard and Foundation Lounge. According to the Boston Business Journal today, Hotel Commonwealth is currently evaluating how it will use the space that Great Bay occupied.

Waterfront Boston Condos: Living on a Wharf

By Erica Farthing 27 05 2009

One of the great aspects of Boston that sets it apart from other major cities across the U.S. and around the world is that fact that it is situated along the water with gorgeous views of Boston Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean. The crisp, blue ocean water plays host to a variety of ships and boats and is always there for a gorgeous view.

Boston condos have been built along Boston’s beautiful waterfront and one of the most common areas you can find them is along the various Wharfs found throughout Boston. A Wharf is like a pier projecting and raised over the water and Wharf living in Boston holds some of the most exclusive and unique Boston condos available on the waterfront.

Living in a Boston condo on the waterfront on a Wharf allows you to sit back in the privacy of your own home while taking in the breathtaking sight of ships coming in and out of the harbor, the sparkling blue water, and the glistening city in the back drop. Some waterfront Boston condos can be found along these well-known Boston wharves: Battery Wharf, Russia Wharf, Burroughs Wharf, Commercial Wharf, India Wharf, Lewis Wharf, Lincoln Wharf, Rowes Wharf, Union Wharf, and Constellation Wharf. (Please feel free to let me know if I have overlooked any!)
