Craigslist Caveat Emptor! – To all who use craigslist to search for real estate, especially for leases and rental properties – BE CAREFUL! We all know that craigslist is a great place to find cheap rental properties, especially for college students like myself who would like to avoid commission fees if possible, but beware, that $600-a-month 1 bedroom in Beacon Hill might be too good to be true. An older Boston Real Estate Observer article documents two cases of craigslist debauchery that happened right here in Boston:
1- The ad is …

Boston.com has just posted a nice simple report on all Boston condo sales for 2009 categorized by neighborhood. The numbers aren’t terribly surprising but they’re important for prospective buyers, so I’ll make some remarks on what the numbers are telling us (for the full table of statistics, click here).
Without a doubt the Back Bay is Boston’s priciest neighborhood, having an average selling price of just over $1 million and a median selling price of just under $700,000, and comes in third place in regard to total sales behind the South …

Space always seems to be that difficult thing to find in Boston. As someone who is not a native to the area, I will never forget the shock factor that I had experienced when I first moved to the city. I couldn’t believe that such small spaces even existed! But hey, that’s what you get when you have an old and historic city like ours…you work with what you’ve got I suppose. Not everything can be new and spacious. One alternative to the space issue that a lot of Boston …

Neighbors & patrons of the South Street Diner located in Boston’s Leather District, close to South Station, attended a Boston Licensing Board hearing yesterday fighting to keep the diner’s round-the-clock operating hours alive.
Apparently, some residents living nearby in the Boston Leather District condos complained of excessive noise and requested that the board limit South Street Diner to a 1:00am closing time.
Counsel for the Diner claims that out of the $1 million South Street Diner owner Sol Sidell grossed last year, $900,000 came from meals served between 1:00am – 4:00am.
Several local …

Boston’s vibrant Leather District is conveniently situated close to Boston’s South End, Boston’s Financial District, and South Station among many other areas in downtown Boston. Looks like this is the weekend for open houses in Boston !!!
This a.m. I came into work to run some searches for a relocation client who is coming in to Boston this weekend – and I was blasted with the little “Open House” pins all over our MLive Maps.  Take a look at the screen shot above – this is a simple South End Condos Search and more than 80% of them are having an open house this weekend.  I am assuming that  most of the other Boston neighborhoods are …
