Healthy Living in a Boston Condo

As if we didn’t know that Boston condo living was the best! An article was published today telling us that not only is living in urban condos as opposed to suburban living not only creates a more convenient lifestyle, it is good for your health too.

Living in a Boston condo places you in the center of downtown Boston with all of your necessities & extracurricular activities located in close proximity. Whether you need to run to CVS, hit up a grocery store, or dine at one of the finest restaurants in town, living in a Boston condo allows you to get to your destination quicker and with more ease than driving around in the suburbs.

Not only is it healthier for people to be able to walk to their destinations rather than drive, but it is more environmentally friendly as well as economically friendly. With all of those factors combined, why wouldn’t someone choose to live in the city? Not that there is anything wrong with the suburbs, but there is a trend clearly shown nationwide where many are opting for urban conveniences as their lifestyle choice as opposed to the suburban setting.

Read the article explaining how “walkable” houses are worth much more:

“Health experts tell us walking benefits us and a recent study on real estate values says a home in a walkable neighborhood has the benefit of being worth more than a similar home in a less-walkable neighborhood.

The study, “Walking the Walk: How Walkability Raises Housing Values in U.S. Cities” by Joseph Cortright for CEOs for Cities, analyzed data from 94,000 real estate transactions in 15 major markets provided by ZipRealty and found that in 13 of the 15 markets, higher levels of walkability, as measured by Walk Score, were directly linked to higher home values…

…home buyers want convenience, energy savings and lower their carbon footprints–factors that raise the demand for walkable homes. In Portland, for example, real estate broker Kirsten Kaufman became the top seller in her office by selling bikable, walkable and transit-friendly homes, Cortright reported.”

CondoDomain has implemented Walk Score to our Boston condo website to be able to show consumers as they browse for urban condos just how close they are to stores, restaurants, etc. There are so many positives to living in a Boston condo which is why there has been such an increased trend in the shift from suburban to urban lifestyles and living.
