South End Penthouse: It’s all about Luxury and Location!

This week I toured a wonderful unit on West Springfield St. located between Tremont and Columbus Sts. in Boston’s highly desirable South End. I had a good feeling when I pulled up and had my choice of parking spaces on the street. For those of you familiar with Boston parking, you know what a treat this is! (It’s the little things, people!) This also reflects a huge advantage of living on a “side” street. In most cases, only residents are parking on these streets, so parking isn’t usually a huge issue for owners. The building itself is a gorgeous, well kept brownstone split up into four condo units, all owner occupied. Beyond the double door entry is a beautiful foyer with a warm grey paint color accented by simple paintings. Truly inviting.

One flight up is the entrance to this penthouse gem, unit #4. A short jaunt up another hardwood staircase within the unit, leads you into the kitchen. Open, spacious, and top of the line. The focal point of the room definitely is the large breakfast bar. Perfect for entertaining, hosting your own cooking show, whatever you’re in to! The lightly stained wood cabinetry is nicely off set by dark brown granite counter tops and an exposed brick accent wall over the stove. The appliances, including a wine fridge, are all stainless steel and in great condition. The open floor plan flows into a dining area and large living room complete with a half bath. There are beautiful, useful built in bookshelfs complete with a fancy sliding ladder, a gas fireplace, and another HUGE wine/beverage cooler. The entire floor is flooded with natural light and features dark, wide plank hardwood flooring.

Continuing up the dramatic curved staircase, you’ll find two good sized bedrooms. The second bedroom is currently being used as an office but could easily become a very functional guest bedroom. The master bedroom also features an exposed brick wall and glass sliders out onto a hard to find front deck. The deck is large and has a spiral staircase leading up to a sweet private roof deck! We Bostonians love our good weather–I have no doubt you’ll be making the most of our spring, summer, and fall months and enjoying all of this prime outdoor space.
