The Macallen: Boston Real Estate Trend Starter

While assisting a representative yesterday from Sphere Trending on what the current real estate “trends” going on in our city of Boston are, I took her on a tour of The Macallen. Not only is the Macallen, one of the newest luxury Boston condo developments, but between its LEED Green Building Certification and it’s uber cool location in one of the newest emerging hot spots in Boston, The Macallen definitely fits the bill for one of the hottest trends in Boston real estate right now.

The Macallen, located in South Boston, is Boston’s first residential green building. South Boston real estate sits alongside miles of beaches, and South Boston condos are only minutes away from Boston’s Financial District, Seaport District, and South End. The area where The Macallen has been built is in part of the newly emerging section of South Boston where other new Boston condo developments have gone up recently including Court Square Press, Allele, The Lofts @36 A, and the new rental building 50 West Broadway apartments.

Residents at The Macallen enjoy an onsite private gym, a two lane lap pool, and custom kitchens with Bosch appliances. Many units also include private outdoor space. The Macallen is certainly unique among Boston condos. Residents of The Macallen can enjoy 24 hour concierge services, a community zip car, bike storage and one deeded parking space. There is also a private screening room, where residents can entertain, and watch films on an HDTV projection screen from theater seats.

To achieve the highest levels of LEED Green Building Certification the building uses 30% less electricity than a conventional building, uses natural and recycled materials, and has the best indoor air quality.
